Question….. How are our offering envelopes divided for church expenses.?

Our regular offerings only (in the weekly white offering
envelopes) are used to meet the budget.

Communion offering envelopes are given to Lutheran World Relief.

Improvement fund offerings are designated for upkeep of the building, etc.

Memorial Funds offerings are put in a separate account for designated gifts and memorials requested by the families involved.

Special offering envelopes in the pews are given to several appeals through the year as requested.

JUNE BIRTHDAYS

YOUTH GROUP PLANTS THE POT

Have you seen this in your neighbors yard?                                            Over the past few weeks a pretty “pot” has

appeared in some people’s yards. The Youth group was selling insurance for $10 to not have the pot placed in their

yard. If you didn’t get insurance and the pot appeared, you then had to pay $15 to have it removed and placed in another yard. All proceeds went to World Hunger.

So far the pot has been sighted in the yards of

Pastor Pat & Glenn       Barb & Mike Hoover       David & Melinda RoyScott & Pam Krebs      Tom & Patti Wysocki      Pastor & Bonnie Wysocki Larry & Brenda Linebaugh (...they are filing a suit as they had insurance)       Mark & Jamie Tome       Joan & Don Naylor

Will you be next???

A NOTE FROM OUR PARISH NURSE

Dear Family in Christ,                                                                                                               May/June 2010

I am stepping away from my normal format this month. I was at a Parish Nurse seminar on 4/16/2010.

An eight hour seminar on trauma is mentally grueling on a nurse much less anyone else. Actually it was about Injury Prevention but we learned the reason why prevention is so very important.

Injury is the leading cause of death in people up to the age of 44.

Overall it ranks 4th among causes of death.

Death rate increases after the age of 75.

One in three people who fall over the age of 65 will die.

Fifty percent of hip fractures never go back to their home.

Motor Vehicle Crash  has the statistic of 1 death every 12 min.

Sadly, the statistics that were used were 15 years old. However, York Hospital Trauma Nurses said the statistics grow every year. They commented on the increase in violence in the world today.

Then we had to pick workshops 3 for am and 3 for pm. They were as follows:

Safe Cribs                                                              Traffic Jeopardy

Preventing Falls in the Older Population               Gun Safety

Home Safety                                                          Suicide Assessment in Faith Community

Distracted Driving                                                 TSI (Trauma Scene Investigation)

Internet Safety                                                        Older Adult Safety

Home Safety                                                          Wheeled Sport Safety

These were 40 min. workshops which there is material I can loan from York Hospital and do 1-2 hr. seminars for the congregation if there should be any interest. I was a very informative seminar.

I will be back for blood pressures on May 16, 2010.

Sincerely

Annie Baile, R.N. , Parish Nurse
